UCC’s unique Graduate Attributes Programme is a highly transformative, student-centric suite of initiatives which will help you to successfully navigate your transition in to, through and out of UCC, enabling you to begin, belong and become the person you want to be! This programme will prepare you to live, learn and lead in a shared, co-created future and will enable you to take an active role in advancing the just and sustainable evolution of our communities, our society and our local and global economies. It will empower you to create more value than you consume and will facilitate your acquisition of key graduate attributes and values through curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular channels.
Our mission is to facilitate each one of our students to develop and demonstrate the following graduate attributes:
- Creators, Evaluators and Communicators of Knowledge
- Independent and Creative Thinkers
- Digitally Fluent
- Socially Responsible
- Effective Global Citizens who recognise and challenge inequality
Our goal is that all of our students will live and embody these values:
Be it through your academic modules, your activities in Clubs and Societies, your engagement in the Skills Centre programmes, taking the Bystander Intervention digital badge or through participating in the UCC EmployAgility Awards, you will have multiple and diverse ways to develop and demonstrate your graduate attributes and values throughout your time at UCC. As a UCC graduate, you will be recognised as an agile, well-rounded, curious, self-aware individual who will be a change-maker as well as change-ready in a world that is increasingly more volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous.
As you transition in, our 360° immersive Virtual Reality Videos and unique
Nurturing Bright Futures online course for pre-entry students, will help you make
informed choices at application stage, to ensure you choose the right course for you
and that you are fully prepared for third level learning and life. Our Year Planner booklet is a resource that will help you transition from one year to the next and it is a resource that you can return to year after year. It will create a space for you to reflect on and capture your thoughts on the previous year, so that you can decide on what to bring forward and how best to plan for the year ahead. You can download a fully interactive copy here.

As you transition through, our unique online self-assessment tool, Your UCC Graduate
Attributes and Values Compass, will create a dedicated space for reflection on your ongoing
development of the five graduate attributes and five values. This will be a self-paced, self-directed and self-reflective tool, which will give you an indication of your baseline in terms of the graduate attributes and values. It will also signpost you to carefully curated and co-created resources to enhance and support your personal development journey which will include videos, podcasts, infographic posters, etc. In tandem with the Compass tool, a digital badge is also being prepared. This tool is currently in development and will be launched in 2022, so watch this space!
As you prepare to transition out of UCC, you will receive best-in-class support from our award-winning Career Services team and you will be able to leverage the potential of cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence powered tools (CV optimisation platform and interview simulation) to ensure you are world and work ready. The UCC EmployAgility Award is a professional skills development programme which demonstrates that you have engaged in and developed graduate attributes and values as well as professional skills through extra-curricular activities and work experience. These will help you to differentiate yourself and stand out from the crowd when applying for graduate roles and internships.
