Review: MAKING A MURDERER

Words: Anna McCarthy

Making a Murderer is the latest documentary mega hit series from Netflix, capturing a Wisconsin man’s attempt to prove his innocence in two separate trials. It is a story that follows Steven Avery’s journey from being falsely prosecuted for attempted rape resulting in him spending 18 years in jail, to being the lead suspect of a murder case that occurred in 2005. The documentary explores the corruption of law enforcement within these trials, and how each cover up made the police is slowly but surely uncovered by Avery’s dream team of lawyers. Projecting an atmosphere of frustration, Making a Murderer is full of court room suspense and highly strung tension. Whether you think Avery is guilty or not, this documentary presents itself as one of the most gripping, addictive, thrilling shows Netflix has produced.
